Job Description:

As a Cashier, you’ll be responsible for handling financial transactions in establishments other than banks. You’ll use electronic scanners, cash registers, and related equipment to process payments, issue receipts, and provide exceptional customer service. Here’s what your role entails:

Responsibilities:

1. Receive payments by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
2. Provide receipts, refunds, credits, or change to customers as needed.
3. Count cash drawer at the start of shifts to ensure accuracy and sufficient change.
4. Welcome customers as they enter the establishment.
5. Maintain cleanliness and organization at checkout areas.
6. Determine prices of goods, services, or admission, and calculate bills using calculators or cash registers.
7. Handle trading stamps, food stamps, and coupons.
8. Address customer complaints and provide information on procedures or policies.
9. Calculate total payments received during shifts and reconcile with total sales.
10. Record transaction totals accurately and maintain balance sheets.
11. Sort, count, and wrap currency and coins.
12. Monitor checkout stations to ensure adequate cash levels and staffing.
13. Post charges to guests’ or patients’ accounts when necessary.
14. Offer carry-out service to customers when completing transactions.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar cashier position.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
4. Ability to adapt quickly to new work environments.
5. Knowledge of products offered, including raw materials, and ability to maintain consistent quality.
6. Familiarity with basic food hygiene standards.
7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
8. Highly self-motivated with the ability to motivate others.
9. Ability to remain focused and work well under pressure.
10. Strong multitasking skills to handle a fast-paced environment.
