General Summary
The Senior Manager of Software Engineering – Data Analytics is responsible for overseeing enterprise-level data and reporting solutions, including the maintenance, support, and troubleshooting of data sets and reports. This role involves managing enterprise reporting tools such as Crystal Reports, Tableau Desktop and Server, Cognos Analytics, spatial analytics tools, and data integration tools like Dell Boomi and IBM DataStage. The position requires close collaboration with end users to define reporting needs and effectively communicate requirements to the relevant teams and contractors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and support end-user utilization of internal reporting applications, including Tableau, Crystal Reports, and Cognos BI Analytics.
- Maintain an inventory of reports, batch jobs, and data refresh schedules to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Ensure compliance with DART Data Governance and Security principles.
- Assist end users with report definition, authoring, publishing, and access management.
- Coordinate with ETL environments for accurate and timely reporting.
- Recommend and implement updates to reporting software to ensure sustainability and supportability.
- Gather requirements for new reports and modifications to existing reports to provide management with accurate decision-making information.
- Offer customer support regarding data fidelity, availability, and reporting environments.
- Collaborate with Systems Engineering to validate reporting applications post-Windows security updates.
- Analyze and resolve data access issues, incidents, and service requests.
- Participate in knowledge sharing and cross-training to ensure backup for essential tasks.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and adhere to agency service level agreements (SLAs).
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- At least four (4) years of experience in reporting environments using Oracle and SQL Server in UNIX, Linux, or Windows environments.
- Proficiency in data modeling techniques and SQL code management tools.
- Strong skills in SQL-based data discovery, conversion, and advanced reporting techniques, including dashboard creation and storytelling.
- Ability to work remotely as needed and respond to emergency outages.
- Must participate in an on-call rotation and pass a physical examination, including a drug screening, to operate DART non-revenue vehicles.

Working Conditions
The position is typically in an environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, or temperature extremes. Occasional visits to DART facilities may expose the employee to moderate unpleasant conditions, such as weather elements and chemicals, while following safety regulations and using provided protective gear.
