Position: Senior Data Scientist

As a Senior Data Scientist at Emmes, you will play a crucial role in developing cutting-edge AI and Machine Learning products for clinical research. Your responsibilities will include creating models and data pipelines to enhance the analysis of clinical data across various functions, including Data Management, Pharmacovigilance, and Medical Monitoring. Collaborating closely with bioinformatics analysts, data managers, software engineers, and product managers, you will turn complex analytical solutions into actionable clinical insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement scalable software solutions for analyzing clinical data.
  • Create automated workflows for data engineering and analysis using workflow management software.
  • Integrate workflows with AWS services (e.g., AWS CLI, S3, Batch, Cloud Watch).
  • Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to derive insights from large-scale clinical datasets.
  • Execute, troubleshoot, and optimize data processing and reporting workflows.
  • Write well-documented code, conduct code reviews, and perform programming validation.
  • Formulate hypotheses and conduct independent research to drive impactful findings.
  • Identify and resolve inconsistencies in data and analytical processes.
  • Provide expert consultation across projects within the organization.
  • Mentor junior Data Science staff.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience; Master’s degree with 3+ years; or PhD with 1 year of experience.
  • Relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device, clinical, technology, or software engineering fields.
  • Expertise in the latest data science and AI techniques, including generative AI and LLM.
  • Proven ability to scale data science models to products and implement innovative solutions.
  • Knowledge of clinical trial operations, data management, and R&D processes.
  • Proficient in Python or R for statistical programming.
  • Experience with version control software (e.g., Git, SVN) for code management.
  • Strong multitasking and independent working abilities, as well as effective teamwork skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying technical concepts.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and recognized for critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
