About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Data Engineering team at TCGplayer, where you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance and optimize our data systems and infrastructure. You’ll help design scalable, reliable, and efficient data solutions that support the growth of our applications and microservices. Key Responsibilities
- Design and Architecture: Lead the selection of datastore technologies and design data structures for applications to meet current and future needs.
- Database Optimization: Write efficient database queries and ensure systems are optimized for performance and scalability.
- Collaboration & Support: Partner with engineers and teams across the organization to provide expert guidance on database usage and improve data flows for microservices.
- Troubleshooting: Resolve performance challenges and improve existing database designs to enhance reliability.
- Leadership: Take the lead on cross-team projects related to security, software updates, and platform migrations.
- Research and Strategy: Stay on top of emerging data technologies and trends to inform long-term strategy and innovations in the data domain.
- Mentorship: Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and training to team members on best practices in datastore management.
What You Will Bring
- Experience: 8+ years in data engineering, with a focus on designing scalable and reliable datastore solutions for microservices.
- Expertise: Strong knowledge of NoSQL technologies (e.g., MongoDB, Redis, ElasticSearch) and RDBMS (PostgreSQL preferred).
- Cloud Proficiency: Experience working in a cloud-first environment, particularly with AWS.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging to different audiences.
- Leadership: A collaborative mindset, with the ability to influence teams and stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
