Junior Accountant

Job Purpose: Ensure accurate and timely financial entries and invoicing, resolve proration and revenue accounting exceptions, and deliver high-quality accounting and reporting. Respond promptly to inquiries from stakeholders.

Job Accountabilities:

• Process revenue accounting transactions, resolve exceptions, raise invoices, and conduct reconciliations.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies, liaise with internal and external stakeholders, and maintain effective controls.
• Assist supervisors with accounting functions and handle ad-hoc assignments.
• Support customers by providing information and addressing queries promptly.

Specific Responsibilities in Revenue Services:

• Manage proration exceptions and processing exceptions in the Revenue Accounting system.
• Conduct yield checking and validation to ensure accuracy of data.
• Regularly reconcile Sales, Interline, and Revenue clearing accounts.
• Generate accounting entries for differences between Head Office and Station accounting.
• Prepare invoices, billing memos, credit notes, and credit memos based on information from cost centers.
• Process inward billed invoices and credit notes after cost center approval.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Experience: 3+ years in Finance & Accounts, preferably in a relevant field such as airline revenue accounting.
• Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Finance; additional finance qualifications preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills.
• Effective communication skills with stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently within established guidelines.

Specific to EK Revenue Services:

• Knowledge of Cargo fares, ticketing, proration, IATA Rules & Regulations, and Interline Agreements.
• IATA qualifications in Cargo Fares, Ticketing & Proration advantageous.
• Familiarity with Global Distribution Systems (GDS) / SkyChain (Cargo Reservation system).
