Financial Analyst II – United States – Remote

As a Financial Analyst II in Commercial Finance, you will play a key role in supporting our mission by analyzing and reconciling complex financial data related to premium invoicing, payments, and member accounts.
Position Overview
Under the guidance of the Supervisor of Finance Analytics – Commercial Finance, the Financial Analyst II will be responsible for a variety of financial tasks, including premium invoicing and payments reconciliation, vendor management, cross-departmental collaboration, and ad-hoc analysis related to commercial health plans. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in SQL, and the ability to work with large datasets to ensure financial accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Premium Invoicing and Payments:
- Monitor and respond to internal and external inquiries regarding premium invoicing.
- Analyze overpayments and underpayments, presenting findings and recommendations to leadership.
- Research member premium issues or discrepancies and provide actionable solutions.
- Reconcile various revenue streams (e.g., member payments, APTC payments, state credits/subsidies) using SQL queries to ensure accuracy in member accounts.
- Vendor and Payment Issue Management:
- Resolve payment disputes with merchant services vendors and ensure lockbox decisioning is processed correctly.
- Collaborate with print vendors to update premium billing and member notices as required by regulatory guidelines.
- Coordinate with BPO vendors to manage programming adjustments and other business needs.
- Reporting and Financial Analysis:
- Prepare month-end financial reports and journal entries to meet reporting requirements.
- Perform detailed analysis of refund requests and overpayments, processing refunds when necessary.
- Verify the accuracy of broker commission payments and reconcile internal and external records.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to premium billing and revenue reconciliation.
- Continuous Improvement & Team Collaboration:
- Act as a trusted resource for internal teams, building strong working relationships across departments.
- Incorporate LEAN principles into daily work processes to drive efficiency and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the success of the health plan by performing other duties as needed.

Qualifications & Experience
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years in premium billing, membership reconciliation, or premium reporting, particularly within managed care for commercial products.
- Experience collaborating with finance teams for monthly financial reporting.
- Proficiency in working with large data sets and writing moderate SQL queries.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Healthcare Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of premium billing practices in healthcare.
- Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Solid SQL query writing and development skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
