Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Database Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will help evolve our data architecture, integrate new data sources, and build scalable data pipelines to support our business’ growing needs. As a key contributor to our data-driven initiatives, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement data solutions that drive business success.

This is a remote role, open to U.S.-based candidates (excluding CA, CO, WA, and NY).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Architecture and Modeling: Evolve our data models and architecture to meet self-service reporting needs and business requirements.
  • ETL Pipeline Development: Build and support robust ETL pipelines with comprehensive monitoring and alerting to ensure data quality and reliability.
  • Data Optimization: Develop and optimize data tables using best practices, including partitioning, compression, and parallelization to improve performance.
  • Cloud Integration: Leverage AWS services (e.g., Glue, Lambda, Step Functions) to develop scalable data integration solutions using SQL and Python.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, business, and operations teams to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.
  • Automation: Continuously improve data workflows, automating reporting and self-service support where possible.
  • Ongoing Process Improvement: Improve existing reporting and analysis processes, focusing on efficiency, scalability, and accuracy.

What You’ll Need:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience:
    • 3+ years of experience in Data Warehousing and ETL development, with expertise in SQL, Python, and cloud-based data solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCS).
    • Hands-on experience with large-scale data repositories, such as data lakes or data warehouses.
    • Proficiency in cloud databases (e.g., Redshift, Aurora, DynamoDB) and cloud services (e.g., EC2, S3, Glue, Kinesis).
    • Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong coding skills in SQL and Python.
    • Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git) and CI/CD practices.
    • Experience with automated testing and DevOps methodologies.
    • Familiarity with distributed systems, real-time data processing, and large data sets.
  • Cloud Expertise: Proven experience working with AWS technologies (Redshift, S3, EMR, Glue, Kinesis, Lambda).
  • Communication: Strong ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and senior management.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Advanced Education: Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics).
  • Extended Experience: 5+ years in data engineering or related roles, particularly in complex environments with large, diverse data sources.
  • ETL Tools: Experience with tools like SSIS, Alteryx, or Talend.
  • Non-Relational Databases: Experience with non-relational databases (e.g., NoSQL, document stores, graph databases).
  • Scripting: Hands-on experience with scripting languages such as BASH, C#, Java, or TypeScript.
