Data Engineer II – United States – Remote

Dave is on the lookout for an experienced and passionate Data Engineer to join our Data organization. Our mission in Data Engineering is to ensure that all data is accessible to our team and to continually support our members. In this role, you will collaborate directly with product managers, engineers, marketing, and various business partners to design, develop, and enhance the data infrastructure and pipelines that manage, store, stream, and distribute data at Dave. As a Data Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in enabling our growth and supporting data-driven decision-making, all while safeguarding our members’ information.

What You’ll Do

• Embrace curiosity and remain open to learning new technologies.
• Commit to measurable data quality.
• Design, develop, and deliver data solutions, including coding in-house pipelines and vendor solutions, as well as conducting development and testing.
• Optimize existing and create new data pipelines to effectively manage datasets, while learning the platforms from which we extract data; develop and maintain third-party API processes for data pipelines.
• Design, implement, and manage data warehouse solutions with guidance from senior team members.
• Support and maintain data and database systems to align with business delivery specifications and needs. Document structures and processes.
• Collaborate with analytics and data science teams to enable the creation of data-driven insights, launch new models, and scale impact.

What You’ll Need

• BS in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of engineering experience with a focus on data.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Strong working knowledge of SQL.
• Experience in contributing to and operating data services or pipelines.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
• A passion for delivering customer value and impact.
• Experience with Cloud Data Services.

Nice-to-Have

• Familiarity with Data Warehousing solutions like Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Alloy, MySQL, or Postgres.
• Experience with DBT or other Data Warehouse Modeling tools.
• Experience with ETL platforms like Fivetran or Airbyte.
