About The Team

The Bestow Data Engineering team plays a crucial role across the organization by providing scalable data solutions within our platform and facilitating integrations with external partners. We collaborate closely with internal analytics teams to enhance data architecture and support data science initiatives. Our data engineers work hand-in-hand with stakeholders from product and engineering to design and launch new systems for extracting, transforming, and storing data. You’ll focus on improving data reliability, efficiency, and quality while scaling solutions to fit the cloud environment of a SaaS company, iterating quickly, and making practical choices about tools and technologies.

About The Role

As a Data Engineer, you will:

  • Build robust solutions for transferring data between first and third-party applications and our data warehouse.
  • Champion data quality and availability through high collaboration with team members.
  • Make collective decisions, ensuring that the systems you develop are maintainable and defensible.
  • Develop reliable, repeatable CI/CD data models and pipelines to support reporting, modeling, and machine learning.
  • Enhance data availability for enterprise clients using various methods including traditional push delivery, cloud, and event-driven (e.g., API, gRPC) data sharing.
  • Ensure data quality through automated monitoring and alerting, and participate in an on-call rotation as needed.
  • Leverage Google Cloud tools (e.g., Cloud Run, Cloud Function, Vertex AI, App Engine, Cloud Storage, IAM) and services (e.g., Astronomer – Apache Airflow) to bring data workloads into production.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and data teams to deliver informed solutions to platform and client needs.

Your Experience

  • 4+ years in a data engineering role supporting incoming/outgoing feeds for analytics and data science teams.
  • 2+ years of experience in Python or a similar language, writing efficient, testable, and readable code.
  • Deep SQL expertise with columnar databases such as Google BigQuery, Snowflake, or Amazon Redshift.
  • Comfortable designing end-to-end data pipelines in cloud frameworks (GCP, AWS, Azure) with input from multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines for data processing using tools like Docker, CircleCI, dbt, and git.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure management using IAC tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Proficient with common data orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow) to manage SLOs and processing dependencies.
  • Experience in building streaming and real-time ingestion pipelines.
  • Skilled in creating alerts and monitoring pipelines for effective data governance.
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies within cloud architecture.
  • Understanding of IT security practices such as IAM, data protection, encryption, and key management.
  • Adaptable and eager to learn new technologies as required.
  • Nice to have: Experience with data contracts, data lakes, and API development.

Salary Range: $100,000 – $125,000 per year.
Starting compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, and skills.
