Analytics Engineer – United States – Remote

At Rec Room, we’re dedicated to creating a vibrant space where players can chat, hang out, explore millions of rooms, and build new experiences to share with the community. We are seeking an Analytics Engineer to join our small, dynamic team responsible for our data warehouse and analytics layer, helping us scale as we grow our player base and internal users.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with fellow analytics engineers, receive mentorship, and work on increasingly complex ELT and data modeling projects. You’ll partner with teams across Growth, Economy, User-generated Content, and Social to empower them with insights into player behavior.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and analysts/data scientists to enhance our data layer, enabling analysis, experimentation, and new product features.
  • Develop and maintain our ELT pipeline, utilizing tools like Rudderstack, Fivetran, Prefect, and DBT for streaming, micro-batch, and daily batch processes.
  • Create data warehouse models on a Databricks SQL Warehouse using established patterns to support scalable data architecture.
  • Implement software engineering best practices, such as code reviews, testing, and version control, to ensure data quality across our pipelines and BI tools.
  • Work with senior engineers on increasingly complex projects.
  • Design and implement comprehensive dashboards that serve as the company’s performance source of truth, using tools like Sigma and Hex.
  • Build experimentation datasets and pipelines for detailed analysis of A/B tests.
  • Collaborate with machine learning teams to develop data models for deployment.
  • Partner with various teams to create impactful datasets, such as creator and player statistics.
  • Maintain a curious mindset and commit to continuous learning.

We’re Looking For Candidates With:

  • 3+ years of experience in SQL development, with a preference for experience in cloud/MPP data warehouse solutions like Databricks SQL Warehouse.
  • Strong SQL skills, including proficiency in aggregate functions, window functions, complex joins, CTEs, and query optimization.
  • Experience in pipeline orchestration, particularly with DBT and Prefect.
  • Familiarity with dashboarding tools; experience with Sigma and Hex is a plus.
  • Understanding of event-based data handling processes is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Python and JavaScript is a bonus.

Compensation:

The base salary for this position ranges from $132,813 to $179,688 USD. Please note that actual pay may vary based on location, job-related skills, and experience. Our compensation package may also include stock options and, in some cases, a sign-on bonus. We offer comprehensive benefits, including flexible vacation, medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, long-term care insurance, FSA, commuter benefits, a 401(k) plan with company match, and parental leave. Additional perks include stipends for equipment, family, and pet care.
